30 Paintings 30 Days, Day 6
She’s not like the others. Where my previous Women in Red are bold, this one is a whisper. She was created on Procreate, like the others, but in a format that I didn’t realize at the time only allows for two layers. And so she’s stuck here.

I rather like her, absolutely love the line quality and the smudges even though some people (talkin’ to you, Dear Daughter) say she looks like she was on the losing end of a bar fight.
She’s different than the others because I created her a few days before the challenge, when I was getting my digital toes wet, so to speak.
This is all a learning curve. I think today I’ll spend some quality time on app forums and see what I can learn. Because everything I’ve done so far has been by the seat of my pants and I’m sure I’m missing a lot of what can be done.

30 paintings 30 Days…Day 5
Autocorrect had it’s way with my friend Susie tonight. She was writing a post using the phrase ‘owning my bigness’ when the mysterious powers behind autocorrect deemed ‘owning my bones’ a much better fit.
And you know what? Autocorrect was right. Owning my bones. Talk. About. POWER!
If you read Arty life yesterday you may recall the somewhat whiny tone. Whine whine whine technology whine blah blah blah. Yes, I confess–I was feeling sorry for myself when I wrote it.
And that feeling carried over into the art space inside my head.
I just couldn’t muster up what it takes to jump into the creative deep end again.
So I spent a lot of time wasting time on the net. Facebook. Email. More Facebook. And then I stumbled upon this:
Watch this. If not now, then later. But watch it.
Because after watching this and assuming my powerpose I whipped out the ipad and boldly, confidently went where I haven’t gone before. Artistically speaking, that is.
Brave enough to leap in and own my creative bones.
Ye-Haw! What a difference a day makes, don’t you think?
Now I’m off to paint some more. XO my sweetums! XO

30 Paintings 30 Days continued…
Technology reared it’s ugly head yesterday and I thought this project, at least the ipad part of it, was coming to a screeching halt.
Nothing was working. Procreate, the app I’m using, kept crashing. And then the brushes in it took on a life of their own. The eraser became charcoal and magic areas remained blank, resisting all manipulation.
It wasn’t fun anymore.
It was only when I tried emailing the finished piece that I connected the technology dots, i.e., an image emailed from one app showed up in my inbox as four very different images from another app.
While bitching about this online (Me? Bitch online?) FB friend Jaime suggested I turn off the app (Really? Turn off an app? You can do that???) and reboot the ipad. (Another lightbulb moment. I have never turned off the ipad, I didn’t even know you could do that because NOTHING COMES WITH MANUALS ANYMORE!!!)
There aren’t many external buttons on an ipad so I eventually was able to find it. Pat myself on the back here for being so astute. I shut it off and went to bed.
This morning I googled how to shut off ipad apps and discovered that EVERY app I have EVER used was up and running in the background. So I turned them ALL off and reopened Procreate and emailed yesterday’s image to myself.
Except the image sucks. Every mark was like pulling teeth. Way too much creative angst with this one.

But I learned some valuable lessons:
- Between Facebook and Google, you can find the answer to anything
- Shut off buttons are your friends
- When technology fails, you can always do it the old fashioned way with a REAL brush. Which I didn’t but was fully prepared to do.

Whoo-hoo! Off and running with the 30 Paintings in 30 Days challenge.
