Day 13, 30 Paintings in 30 Days.
Women in Red # 13. Or maybe I should say Women in wee bit o’red. Perhaps they’re dreaming of summer. What do you think?
One of my FB friends (shout out to you, Miss Amie!) has shared her fascination of the stories behind these images, the relationships between the players. With the exception of Women in Red # 11, none of these paintings were created with a backstory in my mind.
My conscious mind. Subconscious, (shrug) who knows?
So I’ve got an idea. If any of these images bring up an emotion or a story in your mind, like ummm…these are a couple of Russian ladies about to take a mid-winter dip in the River Volga, share your story in the comments below. I’d love to hear what y’all have to say. That’s a Yankee y’all, by the way.
And maybe someday I’ll share what motivated me to paint this.
XO sweetums. See you tomorrow!
Technical details: Digital painting created on my iPad 2 using the Procreate app.
I’ve been emailing with my sister today about wanting to go to a warm island and hang out on the beach. This could be us having fun!
Ohhhhh…sun on your back, warm sand between the toes. Go for it Loran!
all I know is that I felt instantly warmer
and could smell the coppertone
and my hair feels a little salt air kissed now
and I swear I’m getting sun on my shoulders
as I stand here and write this.
Thanks for the transport:)

Coppertone and salt…you’ve nailed summer for me, Jennifer 🙂
Just last night I confirmed some travels plans to spend some time with a dear friend in California! This painting takes me there….to the beach, to two dear friends enjoying time together in the warmth of the sunshine and the warmth of their friendship! I may just purchase a red suit for the occasion to be reminded of this moment, and of you, and this wonderful series!

YAY! California! I’m not far from Lake Tahoe, just sayin’…
Wear red something and enjoy your friend. xo
This brings back memories of hanging out with my sisters and going to the beach for a swim… or the pond, or the creek… I love the red and the brilliant blue in the background. They are both evocative and warm hues and I feel relaxed and comforted. While the red calls me to action, the blue reminds me of the communion between the characters in the painting and the viewer. Thanks for sharing!!! Brilliant!
I’m glad it evokes good memories in you, Jean 🙂
ohhhh man do I wish it was summer. We won a paddleboard in October at a 5K and haven’t been able to use it yet due to the cold weather. I am DYING for some warm weather to get out in my bikini and hop on that bad boy.

A paddleboard—lucky you! Another reason to look forward to summer. 🙂
